L. Dee Torre Kaufman is the Marketing and Development Chair for Take Stock in Children. She has served in various capacities on the Take Stock Board of Directors since 2007 and is proud that the Take Stock student that she met as a seventh grader is now a graphic artist in the Admissions Department of the University of North Florida.

Dee is a former President of the Friends of the Fernandina Beach Library and was chair of the non-profit's Capital Campaign to build a better library.

Prior to moving to Fernandina Beach in 2004 to restore a historic home downtown, she was a partner in a national educational evaluation and research firm where she specialized in conducting statewide evaluations of reading programs, special education services, low-performing schools and programs for at-risk youth.

A former teacher and education administrator, she holds a doctoral degree in Education Administration and Policy Studies from the State University of New York at Albany.
