VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION BREAKFAST April 12th from 7:30 to 9:00 am at the Atlantic Rec Center 2500 Atlantic Avenue in Fernandina Beach-brief update:

We have at least 8-10 table commitments as of this writing, with more coming in.  We could easily see 20+ tables as word continues to spread.  First Federal Bank, Rayonier Advanced Materials, MacArthur YMCA, Synovus, Advance Rehab, Nassau County, City of Fernandina Beach, Boys and Girls Club are among the early commitments. (I'm sure I missed a few....)

There are 4 bids for breakfast service - we will decide who will cater on Friday

Advertising is being promoted through various channels - the Chamber of Commerce, community organizations, and online.  We anticipate approximately 200  - 250 attendees.

There are will be a need for approximately 15-20 volunteers during the day of the event - to help direct, seat, and break down the event.  I am working with both Interact clubs to provide help, but the 12th is a school day - most of the students will not be able to miss class.  We'll be reaching out to the other Rotary Clubs (Sunrise and Yulee Satellite) for assistance - more to come on that.

More updates to follow -

Mentioned by Past President and Rotarian Larry Myers, Board Member of VyStar Credit Union,  was the beginning of March Madness starting at the newly named VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

"Earlier this month, the Jacksonville City Commission unanimously approved renaming their arena to the  VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

The outside arena signage will change in a couple of months...but inside, on the score boards and the basketball floor, and on the sales info for March Madness tickets...the VyStar brand is already showing up.  A quick turn around."

"The display of the VyStar name and the arrow pointing towards the photo of the new VyStar Tower in Downtown Jacksonville was a real nice combination to see.
Mayor Curry is pledging a complete turn around to downtown Jacksonville so we shall see...but VyStar needed a new larger corporate headquarters and the tower selected was available at a reasonable price.  Also acquired were two adjoining garages to address convenient parking for employees and customers," said Larry Myers, Board Member, VyStar Credit Union.
