Recently, Fernandina Beach Rotary Club members joined the Fernandina Beach High School Interact Club for its induction of new officers and some 45 new members. The 2014-2015 slate of Interact officers (shown with other club members) includes, President Tessa Pirkola, Vice President Cheyenne Roth, Treasurer Sarah Stone, Secretary Julia Clark as well as directors Jessie Clark, Nichole Curry, Annabel Jekyll, Ashley Reed and Isabella Sheffield. The club’s first project of the year will be providing parking assistance, offering snacks and information during the Pony Up and Party event at Littleberry Farms to benefit Friends of the Library. Interact members will also continue such annual endeavors as Project Christmas Child, the Boots on the Ground Memorial for fallen soldiers, End Hunger Now and the Kids Carnival in Central Park. While swearing in Interact officers, Rotary Club President Dr. David Page thanked the club for raising $227 toward Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign and noted its commitment to raise even more money this year. He challenged club members to live up to Interact’s motto of “Together We Can Make a Difference” and said the club’s work reflected Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self.”

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. The FBHS Interact Club has been sponsored by the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club for 49 years – since its inception in 1966.
