Recently, the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club welcomed FBHS Interact Club President Ashley Reed and Vice-President Sarah Stone who gave a "wrap-up" of the club's accomplishments this past school year. Reed said the club's 72 members undertook a number of projects from bi-monthly road cleanup along Citrona to selling Krispy Kreme donuts to fund other club programs. Two of the club's largest projects included the 16th Annual Kids Fun Day at Central Park attended by more than 200 children and a new endeavor -- delivering decorated shoe boxes of Christmas gifts to 54 seniors at the Nassau County Council on Aging. Interact members also raised $132 for Rotary's End Polio now program, Reed said, and continued other projects from Trees for Troops to Project Christmas Child. At the end of their presentation, Reed and Stone were awarded the club's 2015-2016 Zone 34 Interact Award and the 2015-2016 District 6970 Governor's Presidential Citation Award.
