The FBHS Rose Quartet' played at our last meeting:

In attendance was Les DeMerle and Bonnie Eisele-DeMerle

Many of you may remember the days of Mr. Rob, or Mr. Johnnie Robinson, leading the music programs at Fernandina Beach High School. Some of you or your children may have actually played for him. But in 2014, Mr. Rob retired and a new era was born. New band leader, new ideas, but grown right here from the bosom of Mr. Rob and Mr. Asa Jernigan, the director of bands at Fernandina Beach Middle School. Mr. Tyler Odom, 2007 graduate from FBHS had some pretty big shoes to fill and has done extremely well in a very short amount of time. The Mighty Marching Pirates took straight Superiors this year at the District Musical Performance Assessment back in November, and now that marching season is over, the Symphonic and Jazz bands are fired up and ready to go. One of Mr. Odom’s new creations in this new era was the FBHS Rose Quartet- 4 saxophones, Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone that are goodwill ambassadors and represent the school in many public and private events. Recently, they have played at the Jumbo Shrimp game, the Navy Seal Foundation Luncheon, the Women’s Club, the Nassau County School Board Holiday Luncheon, at Dickens on Centre and at the pajama party on Black Friday in the historic district. They are here today to play for you a mix of holiday and non-holiday sounds and will leave time for questions after their set. Please give a big Rotary Welcome to Bari Sax, senior Brandon DeVane, tenor Sax, senior Samantha Maltagliati, Alto Sax, Junior John Brown and Soprano sax, junior Shemayah Preliou- the FBHS Rose Quartet.
