The Fernandina Beach Rotary Club recently welcomed members of the Fernandina Beach High School Interact Club who provided a year-end update on the club’s activities.  Interact Vice President Michelle Mason noted that club membership is open to students from 14 to 18 years of age and that the club fosters leadership skills and teamwork among members.  Every project the club undertakes is chosen to reflect Interact’s motto of “Together we can make a difference.”  The club sponsors a drive to gather much-needed supplies, clothes and toys for an orphanage in Russia and also participates in Project Christmas Child, a program that provides gifts to children who would not otherwise receive anything during the holidays.  The club’s biggest project is it’s Kid’s Fun Day Carnival held annually in Fernandina Beach’s Central Park.  The carnival is free to all kids age six and under and features games designed and constructed by Interact club members, face painting, ball games and prizes for every child.  The club sells doughnuts, holds car washes and mans the concession booth at the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club-Harlem Ambassadors basketball game to raise funds for the Carnival and other projects.  Interact has been sponsored throughout its 46 years at FBHS by the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club.
