At its June 6 meeting, the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club welcomed six of the eight Nassau County high school graduates who received college scholarships from the club.  This year’s recipients included five graduates of Fernandina Beach High School:  Alyssa Whitfield, Aida Kurti, Deidre Messner, Trey Burch and Colton Hoffer.  Two of the scholarship winners attended West Nassau High School – Josh Hygema and Emily Garvin and one student, Bethany Wisienski, graduated from Yulee High School.  With the help of their Rotary scholarships, these outstanding students will further their educations at colleges including the University of North Florida, Florida State College, the University of Florida and the University of Central Florida where they will major in such diverse fields as psychology, engineering, visual media and business.

Since 1993, the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club has awarded more than $300,000 in college scholarships to graduating seniors from all four Nassau County high schools.
