The Fernandina Beach Rotary Club recently welcomed five of the six local high school seniors who received college scholarships from the club. Pictured are Cheyenne Roth, Katelyn Wildes, Club Scholarship Director Phyllis Davis, Jolene Stubbings, Tessa Pirkola, Maria Angela Guevara and Club President Dr. David Page. Roth and Pirkola -- graduates of Fernandina Beach High where they were officers in Interact -- both plan to attend the University of Florida. Roth will major in chemistry while Pirkola hopes to join the Gator marching band and study psychology. Wildes and Stubbings both excelled at West Nassau High. Wildes will attend the University of North Florida to study communications and wants to work in public relations. Stubbings, who also won the Rotary Oratory competition earlier this year, will major in English with plans to work as a book editor in the publishing industry. Guevara graduated from Yulee High as its Salutatorian and will pursue a nursing degree at the University of North Florida with aspirations to become a doctor. Jeremy Tromblay, (not pictured) who also graduated from Yulee High, was the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Jim Dawsey Memorial Scholarship given to a student entering the medical field. He plans to be a nurse.
