Recently, the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by The Dictionary Project in recognition of the club’s long-time commitment to providing a dictionary to every third-grade student in Nassau County. The Dictionary Project, a national non-profit association founded in 1995, partners with service clubs and other organizations to provide dictionaries to students throughout the U.S. The organization’s goal is to help students improve their communication skills and strengthen their learning experience. To date, the organization has reached out to some 19,273,914 students. Since becoming part of the project in 2005, members of the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club have hand-delivered more than 6,264 dictionaries to third graders in every elementary school in Nassau County.
