The Fernandina Beach Rotary Club along with the Amelia Island Sunrise Rotary Club recently welcomed new District 6970 Governor John Brunner at a barbecue at the Chem Cell Club on Amelia Island.  Governor Brunner, who took office July 1, is a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Downtown Gainesville.  After a delicious dinner of grilled steaks and potluck dishes, he shared his vision and goals for the district in the coming year.  As in year’s past, Brunner said member retention and recruitment were high priorities for all of the clubs in the district.  He also hopes all clubs will provide even stronger support for the Rotary Foundation and its goals and objectives, including ongoing work to eradicate polio throughout the world.  He announced that his primary goal as governor would be to lend his unwavering support to local clubs so that they can be more successful in taking care of their communities and addressing the needs of the club.  He closed by saying his personal motto as governor this year would be “What can I do to help you make your club the best it can be?”
