Recently, the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club welcomed Rotary District 6970 Assistant Governor Mike Selah as a guest speaker.  Selah heads up the local district’s membership arm and has been a member of the East Arlington Club in Jacksonville for some 20 years.  He applauded the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club for growing its membership, but noted that Rotary membership in the U.S. and Europe has declined in the past 10 years.  However, he said, clubs in Africa and Asia have seen tremendous growth in membership.    Selah went on to discuss methods clubs can use to both sustain and recruit new members.  He closed by pointing to the growing importance of the Internet and social media in spreading the word about the important work Rotary Clubs do in their communities and throughout the world.
